A picture is worth a thousand words, but a good one-liner can conjure up a thousand images.
Words are abstract. Pictures are more concrete. Here at Senior Esteem, we are working towards raising the esteem of and for senior citizens – which is also rather abstract. So words fit the bill here, whereas pictures serve to support and illustrate the words’ idea in as many ways as there are colors, shapes, and human people. Endless, right? Well that’s why a good one-liner can conjure up a thousand images and myriads more. Our motto at Senior Esteem is Light up a Lifetime! Every human being on earth can relate to that, and portray it in their own way.
Another thing: a good one-liner is short and sweet. It’s sending across a message swiftly and effectively; very handy for instant results. It takes all of two or three seconds for the readers to understand, but it can last for hours in their mind. As an abstract concept, indeed there is what to keep on thinking about; the readers can consider it from their own viewpoint, and see how true – or untrue – they find it in their own experience. Does the idea lead to deductions or consequences? If it gives them inspiration, then how can they follow it up? When we say Light up a Lifetime! we want people to realize how tremendously good it is to encourage and raise the esteem of seniors, and hopefully that will get people to start doing so on their own.
The last, but certainly important, aspect of a one-liner is that if you see it written on something, it can serve as a very small reminder of a very big value. It doesn’t have to be conspicuous; you can put in on a sticker anywhere you want, or if you really want to be reminded, then frame it on your wall. The main point is that written words serve as a thermos to keep inspiration warm. If you see Light up a Lifetime! every day on your coffee mug or mouse pad then you will be doing humanity a big favor, because cheering up others keeps you cheerful as well, and you will bestow this world with two happy people, not just one.
Now take a look at the next blog to see the one-liners!
